Abstract

This study was motivated by the students' need to overcome difficulties
when learning to write using blended learning media. The main objective of this
study was to test the effectiveness of using Blended Learning on students'
descriptive text writing skills using the Self-Blend learning model.
This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design.
The research sample consisted of two classes, namely the experimental class using
blended learning and the control class using conventional learning. Data collection
techniques were carried out through pre-test and post-test tests.
The results showed a significant increase in students' writing skills using the
blended learning model approach. This finding indicates that blended learning
integration is still a good alternative to improve students' writing skills. Additional
discussions in this study also underline several limitations found both internally in
the form of students' awareness of the use of this alternative model, and external
limitations in the form of a lack of adequate facilities in the use of blended learning.
