Abstract

Keywords: Metacognitive Skills, Critical Thinking Skills, English Learning.

The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between
metacognitive skills and critical thinking skills on students' English learning. This
type of research is quantitative research that uses correlational methods. the total
sample in this study were 37 students in class XI IPK3. Data collection techniques
were carried out with questionnaires, multiple choice tests and documentation.
The data analysis technique used to test the hypothesis is product moment
correlation and multiple analysis. the results of this study indicate that (1) there is
a significant correlation between metacognitive skills (X1) and English learning
(Y), where the Rcount value is greater than Rtabel (0.468 <0.324). (2) there is a
significant correlation between critical thinking skills and English learning, where
the Rcount value is greater than the Rtabel (0.544<0.324). (3) there is a significant
correlation between metacognitive skills and critical thinking skills on English
learning, where the Sig value is smaller than (0.00<0.05).
