Abstract

The researcher uses Classroom Action Research (CAR) In principle, this
type of Classroom Action Research is research on students in terms of interactions
in the learning process which is carried out to improve learning techniques, learning
methods, and the provision of learning materials to improve student learning
outcomes. With Classroom Action Research, teachers can reflect and evaluate
themselves, whether teachers have carried out their main duties professionally as
teachers, and can find solutions to problems that arise in learning practices

The researcher wants to try using speech training as one way to improve the
public speaking skills of class 8a students at mts mambaus sholihin located in
manyar sub-district, gresik district. And with this research it is hoped that can
contribute concepts to increase students’ interest in english and improve students’
ability to speak english.

Based on the result of this research show that speech staining can improve
the students’ public speaking skill. It can be seen in the table of the students’ score
improvement from the assessment of students’ public speaking skill at cycle i untul
assessment of students’ public speaking skills at cycle ii. The students’ score was
getting better from the cycle i until the cycle ii in the test. It was proven by the
students’ mean score which increased in each cycle. The mean of the students’ score
in cycle i was 13,85. This was a very low score because the minimum mean score
that the researcher wope was 18 out of 25. So the researcher tried to increase the
score in cycle ii. Then, the mean of students’ score of cycle ii was 19,14. It was
higher than the assessment score at cycle i because the mean score obtained by
students exceeded the minimum score that the researchers wanted, namely 18 out
of 25. It indicated that the improvement of the students’ public speaking skill though
speech training was significant
