THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EDPUZZLE MEDIA ON YOUNG LEARNER'S VOCABULARY MASTERY

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of Edpuzzle media in
improving vocabulary mastery among elementary school students. Edpuzzle is an
interactive video-based learning platform that enables teachers to insert multiple�choice and open-ended questions, audio notes, and comments into instructional
videos to engage students more actively during the learning process. By combining
audiovisual elements with direct interaction, Edpuzzle encourages students to stay
focused, respond critically, and learn vocabulary in meaningful contexts.
This study employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental
design, specifically the one-group pre-test and post-test method. The subjects of the
research were 31 sixth-grade students of UPT SD Negeri 129 Gresik in the
academic year 2024/2025. A vocabulary mastery test consisting of 20 multiple�choice questions was administered to students before and after the treatment using
Edpuzzle. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics and a paired
sample t-test to measure the effectiveness of the media.
The findings showed that the average pre-test score was 49.84, while the
post-test average increased significantly to 84.52. The result of the paired sample t�test analysis revealed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), indicating a statistically
significant difference between the students’ vocabulary scores before and after the
use of Edpuzzle. Therefore, it can be concluded that Edpuzzle is an effective media
tool for improving vocabulary mastery among young learners. Moreover, the use of
Edpuzzle contributes positively to student motivation and enhances their contextual
understanding of vocabulary through interactive and engaging learning activities.
