Abstract

Key Word: OME TV Applicatin, Speaking skill.

Speaking skills are the most important skills for learning a foreign or second language. This is because speaking is one of the four language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking).Speaking is a means by which learners communicate with others to achieve certain goals or to express their opinions, intentions, expectations and points of view.

This study focuses on students' speaking skills. In this study, the researcher chose the Ome Tv application as an alternative media. OME TV is a live chat platform that provides secure privacy so that anyone can have random conversations with people from allover the world. By using this method, it can make students more active, excited and interested in the process of teaching speaking skills.

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of Ome TV application on students' speaking skills. The study was conducted using a quantitative pre- experimental design, with a population consisting of tenth grade students of SMK Wahid Hasyim and a sample of34 students from class X. The speaking test was used as a research instrument, administered to the students. A speaking test was used as a research instrument, administered before and after the use of Ome TV application.

The data were analyzed quantitatively using SPSS. The results showed a significant improvement in students' speaking ability, with a higher means core in the post-test (83.38) compared to the pre-test (57.94). The calculated T-value (23.037) was higher than the T-table (1.692) and the tailed significance was 0.05 (0.000 < 0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. This result indicates that the use of Ome TV application can improve students' speaking ability as evidenced by the significant increase in mean scores.
