Abstract

Keywords: direct teaching method, speaking skill, student perception and satisfaction.

This study aims to determine students' perceptions and satisfaction with direct teaching methods in English language learning at SMK Al Ikhlas Dalegan. The direct teaching method was implemented with a focus on speaking skills. This research uses qualitative data collection with a case study research design. Data was collected through classroom observations, interviews with students to measure students' perceptions and satisfaction with the teaching methods implemented. The results showed that most of the students had a positive perception towards the use of direct teaching method in English learning, especially in improving their speaking ability. In addition, students' satisfaction towards learning English with this method is also quite high. The findings provide valuable insights for educational practitioners in improving the quality of English language teaching in vocational high schools. The implications of this study are also discussed in the context of curriculum development and more effective teaching strategies in English language education.
