Abstract
Key Word: Speaking Skills, Joyful Learning Strategy
This research by the problem of the effectiveness in learning activities for English speaking skills. So students think that speaking English is very difficult to learn. Because English is not their mother language. Therefore, a solution is needed to deal with the lack of effectiveness in English-speaking learning activities. One way to deal with these problems is to apply a joyful learning strategy. Therefore, the researcher conducted a trial using a joyful learning strategy on students' speaking skills.
The purpose of this study is to determine whether or not there is an effect of a joyful learning strategy on students' speaking skills. The research design used quantitative research with the type of one group pre-test post-test. The population of this study taken from students’ of extracurricular English club at MI Darutta’lim Surabaya. The sample was 12 students’. In this study, researchers only focused on two variables, namely the joyful learning strategy as the independent variable (x) and speaking skills as the dependent variable (y). For measurement, researchers used the normality test, Homogeneous test, and linear test. While testing the hypothesis, researchers used a paired sample test with the SPSS program. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of a joyful learning strategy on students' speaking skills. It was proven that the results of SPSS calculations with paired sample tests were greater than the ttable, which is: 2.20 < 7.07 > 2.11.
The results of this study indicate that there is a significant effect of joyful learning strategy on students' speaking skills of students' extracurricular English club at MI Datut Ta'lim Surabaya. This is evidenced by the average pre-test result (60.00) and the average post-test result (84.17). and the value of sig ( one-sided p and two-sided p) was 0.001< 0.005, and be concluded that the null hypothesis is rejected and alternatif hypothesis is accepted. Its means that there is a significant before and after being thought by using joyful learning strategy on students’ speaking skills, it means that it is effective.
